When we get up in the morning, we don't know how our day will progress, that is why it is good to have an adaptable attitude. How our day progresses may have to do with how we live it, that's why we should nurture the moment. It is said when we proceed to the next life we have no remembrance of the former. This is so we don't have too much on our mind or become overwhelmed in the life we are living. That's how we should live each day, putting away past memories, and concentrating on the moment. Inferior thoughts may arise sometimes and we should retreat from them until a time when it is more beneficial to move forward. A lot of times these thoughts arise when we are accomplishing something superior, or making progress along particular lines. Be aware of the moment, know when to proceed or retreat. Progress on matters important to you may seem slow sometimes. Make time work for you, when working on cultivating good habits. Sometimes its best to just bite off a little, other times you can take larger pieces. Regulation, moderation, cultivation are all good things. The less we become aroused by inferior thoughts the more balanced we will be, and life will be on more of an even footing for us. This brings a form of contentment and peace, no matter what is appearing in our life. Look at the duality. Be like water and fill up the deep spaces slowly so you can overcome them with time, and then flow on.
