The wandering Taoist is a story by Ming-Dao Deng about the Martial arts and Taoist master Kwan Saihung. Kwan Saihung received his training in the monastery of Huashan, High in the mountains of China. A place where the Taoist philosophy of life, which includes a following of "The Way" or Tao (pronounced Dao) is taught. This includes the precepts of longevity, the internal exercise of QiGong, and other disciplines such as Healing through acupuncture, Herbs and chi or internal energy. I highly recommend this book along with others written by the same author as an introduction to Taoist thought. The story of Kwan Saihung is a fascinating mystical journey, which can inspire one to live their life in a different way. I have included some photos of the Monastery and the actual places described in this novel, and of Kwan Saihung who believe it or not was born in 1920. He later immigrated to New york where he taught his arts to certain students including Ming-Dao Deng. To gaze at these pictures is healing and spiritually uplifting.
