When entangled in a conflict it is wise to remain so clear headed and strong that you are always ready to come to terms with your opponent by meeting him half way.

In times of conflict you are always in danger because your opponent is seeking to harm you. Taking an opportunity to end the conflict by meeting your opponent half way, leads away from a time of conflict to a time of security. That is a wise and sensible course of action, and the superior person seizes the opportunity, knowing that in truth, he has won a great victory. To carry on a conflict to the bitter end has evil effects because the enmity is then continued.
