In this book, published by Llewellyn Publications, Ted Andrews brings us ancient traditional stories, history and exercises to quide us on the journey to recognize and interpret the spirits and totems of the animals that quide and teach us throughout life. He shares with us the spiritual significance and powers of over 100 different animals, birds, insects, and reptiles and walks us through the use and creation of five magical animal rites, including: Creating an Animal Speak Dictionary, Flights of Fancy, The rite of Gifting, Dance Rites, and Learning the Art of Shapeshifting. He also shares with us the symbolic qualities of various things such as trees, flowers, colors, numbers, directions and more.
ABOUT TED
Ted Andrews is an author, student, and teacher in the metaphysical and spiritual fields. He conducts seminars, symposia, workshops, and lectures throughout the country on a variety of subjects ranging from the healing arts to Magick and Kabbalah. He has written over 30 books which have been translated into more than two dozen foreign languages. He is featured on many national and local TV and radio programs every year. He has won more Visionary Awards than any other author. In May 2002 he was invited to speak to the UNSRC at the United Nations in New York City for his writings and work with animals.
Andrews is certified in basic hypnosis through the New Life Center of Hypnotherapy in West Virginia and basic acupressure through the Center for Chinese Medicine in California. He is involved in the study and use of herbs as an alternative path in health care, and has completed two years of formal study in "Herbs for Healthful Living" at the Herbal Emporium of Dayton, Ohio. He is active in the holistic healing field, focusing strongly on esoteric forms of healing with sound, music, and voice. A self-described clairvoyant, Andrews works with past-life analysis, aura interpretation, dreams, numerology, and Tarot. He is also schooled in a variety of related holistic healing modalities, including music therapy, herbology, hypnotherapy, acupressure and other alternative techniques.
He is also a musician, numbering among his instruments piano, Celtic harp, bamboo flute, shaman rattles, Tibetan bells, Tibetan singing bowls, and quartz crystal bowls, several of which he uses as a component of healing therapies and to induce higher states of consciousness. He has composed, performed and produced the music for ten audio cassettes.
Andrews holds state and federal permits to work with birds of prey, and performs wildlife rescue and works with wildlife rehabilitation and education. He conducts animal education and storytelling programs with his animals in school classrooms throughout the year. Andrews served the public school system for ten years as a teacher and counselor, seven of which were spent working with disadvantaged students in a special needs program for which he received both local and state recognition.
