Hochokan Wakan / Sacred Mound / Reverence

The sacred mound is an altar placed to the right of the sweat lodge door, where sacred objects are placed during the inipi ceremony. It is made to represent mole, Earth's guardian, and is formed from the earth dug out of the center of the lodge to make the hole where the heated rocks will be placed.

On a spiritual level this represents the spiritual support we have all around us.
